Protective Flower Shipping Boxes For Cornish Blooms Home-Grown Flowers
Cornish Blooms is a ‘flowers by post’ business based in the West of Cornwall, providing beautiful blooms to customers around the UK. As a successful flower farm, Cornish Blooms grow flowers year-round and sends them across the country by post.
To deliver their flowers from Cornwall to every corner of the country, they rely on plant and flower shipping boxes proudly supplied by Atlas Packaging.
Blooms on board
As the flowers Cornish Blooms provides are sent by post, the business relies heavily on its packaging solutions. They need to be sturdy enough to travel via post and say all the right things about the business when they arrive. The quality and beauty of the flowers are why customers choose them, but their boxes play an important role in ensuring the flowers arrive in the same condition as when packed. Flowers are a lovely gift to receive, and the flower shipping box is part of that gifting and unboxing experience that is integral to having gifts delivered to a customer’s doorstep.
We have been working with Cornish Blooms for around 20 years, working with the next generation of the family as they took over from those before them. This ongoing partnership has seen a few changes in the boxes - such as the design, size and shape - but what’s remained the same over the decades is our dedication to supplying high-quality, protective and sturdy boxes to deliver the floral fruits of their labour safely. Recently, they turned to us to increase the range of their boxes and introduce tape to close the boxes, with a tear strip for easy opening.
Fit for flowers
There are many flower packaging options, but we worked with Cornish Blooms to design fit-for-purpose flexo-printed packaging - a high-quality printed flower packaging solution bespoke to the their needs.
We considered the size of the boxes from the beginning of our creative process. Cornish Blooms need boxes that can fit through letterboxes and also boxes that are large enough to box their impressive bouquets. Our team also looked at the design and structure of the box, making sure it aligned with Royal Mail guidelines.
Flexo meets flowers
Cornish Blooms worked with a local artist for the image on the box, reflecting the wildflowers they grow. As such, they wanted packaging with a natural look and feel to reflect the natural beauty of the flowers they sell, in line with their overall branding. We incorporated the artist’s image into the design of the box. This required us to transfer the artwork into a high-quality flexo printed version and arrange it on the boxes in the best possible way.
The design is a graduated fade as it moves up the box and requires an expert technical print to achieve a premium finish that adds perceived value to the packaging and the home-grown flowers within.
Solutions that stack up
As well as factoring in the size and design of the boxes and the recipient’s unboxing experience, we also considered storage.
The box’ design means they are quick and easy to make up and don’t take up too much room when stored, thanks to their stacking feature. This means that Cornish Blooms can order in bulk - with a quick email to Atlas Packaging, and we sort out everything - knowing they have the room to stock up when needed.
Flourishing feedback
Once we had designed the boxes, we sent a sample to Cornish Blooms, who were happy with their new and improved packaging, particularly the colours, noting their consistency and high quality. They were especially impressed by the quality of the boxes available to them with a short lead time from enquiry to delivery.
Once again, they were happy with the service we provided, marking another positive chapter in our 20-year-plus partnership.
