Call Caterlink, a long-standing Atlas Packaging client, wanted to reduce the cost of their Litho Lam Counter Top Display Box, which was based on a FEFCO 0421 style case. The existing box held excellent shelf presence and presented the contents and the brand extremely well, so any solution couldn’t compromise the success of the current format.

But Atlas Packaging’s £2 million investment in an EMBA machine with infrared driers meant the current Litho printed box could be replicated using high quality post print Flexo, on clay coated corrugated board which cut the packaging cost by 50%!

Atlas Packaging worked closely with Call Caterlink’s in-house design team to develop the graphics whilst ensuring that all brand guidelines were adhered to. The objective was to provide a solution that mirrored the current box design but was suitable for high quality flexo.

The boxes were printed four colour Flexo and used the infrared driers to cure the ink on to clay coated board. The effect is really impressive and when it also cuts costs BY HALF then it was  real win for the food business.
